Three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 5:58 p.m. at Mile Marker 24 on Highway 68 after one vehicle allegedly pulled out in front of oncoming traffic. Traffic slowed to a crawl on westbound Highway 68 in front of the Dollar General Store because of the closure of the “slow” lane due to the accident. Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) firefighters from both Stations #11 and #12, in addition to Battalion 1 (the duty chief) Captain Boyd Lewis, responded to the accident.
Upon arriving at the accident scene, the firefighters utilized the “jaws of life” to extract the female driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. After being treated by GVFD paramedics, the female was then transported via ambulance to Kingman Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation and treatment. The two males who were also injured in the accident, one driver and one passenger, refused medical treatment.
A Kingman Police Department (KPD) officer and Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers responded the accident and KPD conducted traffic control while DPS conducted an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Attempting To Disconnect The Battery

It is standard procedure for firefighters to disconnect the batteries of crashed vehicles to ensure they will not catch fire due to an electrical short.
