Highway 93 Rollover Accident
Nov. 23, 2015
The driver of a small Toyota Corolla escaped serious injury at 3:48 a.m. when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway rolling over and ending up in the center meridian on Highway 93 near the Port of Entry on Highway 93.
The early morning rollover accident is the fourth accident that has occurred on the 12-mile stretch of southbound Highway 93 in the last six days. Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) firefighters from Station 11 responded to the vehicle accident that happened in the southbound lanes at Mile Marker 67 two miles north of Coyote Pass. When the GVFD firefighters arrived on scene, the male driver who had self-extracted himself from the wrecked car told them he had fallen asleep while driving. GVFD Captain Robert Arnold, who was one of the first responders, said the lone occupant of the Toyota was treated at the scene and then was transported via ambulance to Kingman Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries for evaluation.
Both Mohave County Sheriff deputies and Department of Public Safety officers responded to the accident scene, and the exact cause of the accident is currently being investigated by DPS.
Fire district officials stress that if a driver is tired, they should pull off the roadway and take a break before continuing on their journey instead of becoming a victim of a vehicle accident.
