Three occupants of a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 12:28 p.m. at Mile Marker 41 on Interstate 40 suffered only non-life-threatening injuries after one vehicle allegedly slammed into the rear of another vehicle traveling in the same direction.
The vehicle traveling westbound on the freeway that was impacted in the rear overturned in the fast lane and ultimately ended up on its side. The other vehicle crashed into a ditch on the north side of the freeway. Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) firefighters from both Stations #11 and #13, in addition to Battalion 1 (the duty chief) Captain Dave Martin, responded to the call of the accident. While responding, Station #11 personnel were called off and they returned to their station because Station #13 firefighters had already arrived on scene.
After being treated by GVFD paramedics, a female was then transported via ambulance to Kingman Regional Medical Center and a “trauma alert” was broadcast to hospital personnel informing them of an incoming vehicle accident victim. The two others injured in the accident refused medical treatment.
Both Mohave County Sheriff Office deputies and Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers responded and the exact cause of the accident is currently being investigated by DPS.
